New York Fashion Week Attracts Celebrities

Fashion shows are very popular with celebrities and sometimes the outfits they wear overshadow the new styles being displayed.

There are plenty of celebrities in New York City, so it's no surprise that they made their presence felt at the recent New York Fashion Week Show, and Lindsay Lohan and her partner, Samantha Ronson.

You have your favorite celebrity or celebrities; in fact most people have at least one celebrity that they regard as a favorite.

But just how popular, overall, are your favorites, when compared to other celebrity favorites?

I found an excellent website that has up to the minute celebrity popularity rankings, and, it also shows each celebrity's current trend, that is, is he or she going up or down in popularity

I think you're in for some surprises. For example, Angelina is not number 1, Dave Matthews is, and, Miley Cyrus went down a bit.

Celebrity Bombshells

The word "bombshell" isn't used very often these days but it was very popular years ago when women like Marilyn Monroe were considered modern sex symbols.

It's kind of funny to me, a long term observer of women, for scientific purposes only, to compare what constituted the "sexy" or "hot" women of my youth, to today's brazen hussies.

Years ago a "sex symbol" dressed in a semi-revealing way and acted seductively. Now women who want the world to know that they are sexy advertise the fact by wearing next to nothing and unashamedly reciting a list of their sexual preferences. The line between sexy and slutty has been blurred; much to the delight of the male of the species.

But the notion of a "Bombshell" still persists and actually denotes a particular style of sexy woman.

Typically a, "bombshell", was a, "blonde bombshell", of the platinum blonde variety who sported a full-figured body, a la today's Scarlett Johansson.

The idea was that an exploding bomb usually got one's attention.

Now, however, even brunettes can be considered bombshells, such as Halle Berry, and the voluptuous figure of the past has largely been replaced by the slim, athletic look of a Jessica Alba

By the way, I still don't like those so called, "sophisticated", pulled back hair styles such as the one Scarlett Johansson is sporting in the first picture.

Angelina Jolie Names Daughter After Her Mother

By now everyone who follows the celebrity world knows that Angelina Jolie gave birth to twins, a boy Knox Leon, and a girl Vivienne Marcheline.

But most people don't know why Angelina, who uses her middle name, Jolie, as her last name, named her daughter Vivienne Marcheline.

Marcheline is Angelina's late mother, Marcheline Bertrand's name.

As for Jolie and Pitt's son, Knox Leon, rumor has it that it is a combination of the middle name of Pitt's grandfather, Knox, and Jolie's great-great grandfather's name, Leon.

The birth, in Nice, France created quite a stir and the town's mayor made Jolie and Pitt honorary citizens.

Free Bon Jovi Concert In New York City

Summer is the time to take in free concerts, and, keep in mind that since we are in a "political season", there very well may be free fundraising concerts, especially for the Democrats.

This free concert, to be performed in New York City on July 12, in, where else, Central Park, is more or less connected to the Major League Baseball All Star Game, which will be played on July 15 at Yankee Stadium.

Selma Blair In A Jumpsuit And Short Hair

OK, this may not be the most scintillating headline or topic, but I think you'll find the posting leads to something worthwhile.

Selma Blair hasn't been in the news much lately even though she's been pretty busy in both TV and the movies, so let's pick on her today.

Ever since Selma turned my crank as the inexperienced prude turned wanton seductress in "Cruel Intentions", I've kept her in the back of my mind. Now that "Hellboy II" is coming out on July 11, she is back in the forefront.

Blair is known as an actress who experiments with somewhat bizarre style statements from time to time, such as a partially shaved head, which at least looked better than the short blonde haired Selma, IMHO.

Celebrity Power

"Forbes" magazine is all about money and the people who have and control it.

So, "Forbes" keeps track of anything and anyone connected to the big bucks and there are plenty of those in the celebrity world.

Money translates into power and that's what money, at the highest level, is all about, power. When you have money you have power, and power gets you more money, so it just keeps going on and on, for some.

I guess this phenomenon is what gave rise to the expression, "The rich get richer".

Anyway "Forbes" has compiled a list of the world's most powerful celebrities.

Scarlett Johansson And Ryan Reynolds

There's more celebrity nuptials news as we shift from breakups to happier times today for some of Hollywood's high profile inhabitants.

Scarlett Johansson, the sometimes elusive beauty, apparently has made the most of those long hotel weekends with Ryan Reynolds as news of their engagement hit the streets.

There hasn't been an official announcement, and the usual denials have been issued by both camps but it appears certain that Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds will be picking out wedding invitations soon.

Britney Spears Has Another Motoring Mishap

Britney was involved in another traffic incident, and although it was reported as an accident, there wasn't any damage to either vehicle or did anyone claim injury.

But, with the next day came the arrival of intense pain to the driver of the other car, even though this was best described as a no miles per hour accident.

So I'm certain we'll have the inevitable lawsuit filed by the "victim" before long.

Barack Obama Is Related To Brad Pitt

How's that for a headline, Barack Obama is a distant cousin to Brad Pitt.

Once you get beyond grandfathers and so forth I get pretty mixed up with this "once or twice removed" business. I really don't know much about genealogy but the folks who do say that Obama and Pitt are distantly related.



If you look very, very closely, you can see the similarities between these guys. They're both in good shape, they both apparently like the seashore, they both have short hair, they both squint when the sun is in their eyes, they both get wet when near water, they're both at least 6 feet tall, yeah, I can see the family resemblance.

Even more astonishing is the fact that Hillary Rodham Clinton is related to Brad Pitt's wife, Angelina Jolie, which is starting to make this whole thing seem a bit incestuous in an abstract way.

Olsen Twins Writing Book

The Olsen twins, Ashley and Mary-Kate, are writing a book, a big book, coffee table size in fact.

The book will be entitled, "Influence", and will contain exclusive photographs of the twins taken by world renowned photographer, Rankin.

It is so cool to be known by just one name, like Madonna, and this guy, Rankin. Wait a minute, everyone calls me Jim; just Jim, so I guess I'm in that exclusive club too.

There will be exclusive interviews in the book and some never before seen, "material", from the twin's personal collections, whatever that means.

So I guess that's how you write a book without actually writing anything.

Ryan Phillippe And Reese Witherspoon

No they're not back together but there have been some recent revelations, particularly from Ryan Phillippe, about why the breakup occurred, and how he dealt with it,

I like both of these guys, and I think they're both good actors, so I guess I thought they made the perfect couple, but then I thought that of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston too.

Despite the ongoing rumors about Phillippe and Abbie Cornish Ryan continues to deny that he is "involved" with her and says they are "just friends".

I will be starring in a lesbian TV show

Even though Paris Hilton has denied being a lesbian, the latest news is that she will be starring in a lesbian TV show.

The American celebrity and heiress has confirmed that she will be appearing in the US drama ''The L Word'', a show depicting the lives of a group of lesbian and bisexual women in West Hollywood.

"It''s true. I have no idea what kind of character I''ll be playing, but it''s a good show," the Sun reported Paris as having told Parade magazine.

Paris is very enthusiastic about the show, and it can be seen through the method acting training she has been doing for her role.

She was spotted last month leaving a lesbian nightclub holding hands with a lady, and she was also caught making out with 24-year-old Elisha Cuthbert on another night out.

The former hotel heiress also had some thoughts about being rich and famous.

When asked what she prefers of being rich or famous, she says, "I think it would be better just to be rich, because then you don''t have to deal with anything else. You can just have everything you want and not have to deal with the press and people following you.
