Sarah Brown Dazzles in Astley Clarke Jewellery
The First Lady arrived at Maggie's Cancer Caring Center located in Charring Cross hospital in London. She was accompanied by Mrs. Sarah Brown who looked stunningly beautiful and elegant in a navy blue Britt Lintner dress,
astley clarke jewellery, and Russell and Bromley Shoes. The cancer center was opened by Mrs. Brown last year and is a patron for the center.
The center offers a state of art area for the people suffering from cancer where they get information, practical advice and emotional support. The two men then visited the make up session for women suffering from cancer and shared some make up tips with them.
Sarah Brown has a fabulous taste in fashion and this showed in her dazzling Astley Clarke Jewellery collection. The designer is simply magnificent and has gained a reputation for upholding the highest standards. Style on a budget were the watchwords given for both Michelle Obama and Sarah Brown as their husbands settled issues with the world economy.
Mrs. Brown's choice of designer Jewellery shows off her political as well as fashion sense. The credibility of Astley Clarke Jewellery is truly breathtaking and is even vouched by people like the prime minister's wife Mrs. Brown. These jewelries are designed with real gems and stones and looked very dazzling on the prime minister's wife. This designer has to be given credit for making Mrs. Brown look more gorgeous and pretty at the caring center.

Paris Hilton mulling over marriage proposal
It seems Paris Hilton isn"t ready to walk down the aisle with her new boyfriend Doug Reinhardt, for the socialite has apparently told her beau that she will "think about" his marriage proposal.
It is being believed that the 28-year-old hotel heiress was less than impressed when her beau got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage, reports The China Daily. Reinhardt proposed to her during dinner with her parents Kathy and Rick at The Ivy restaurant in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Doug, 23, presented Paris with a Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring but instead of jumping for joy, the socialite snapped the ring box shut and said she would need time to consider his marriage offer. Hours before the dinner, Doug had stated on his Twitter page, writing: "I"m
about to do something very exciting and life-changing. I"ll announce what happens later."

Julie Doiron Sings in the Saddest of Keys
I adore Julie Doiron. Simple as that. A down to earth, East Coast girl with a taste for the sweet and melancholy and a knack for writing songs that hit you hard in the heart - what"s not to love? This past Thursday night, she played an endearing show at the Horseshoe and made the packed house fall a little in love with her as well.

Vogue - April 2009 - Beyonce by Mario Testino
She"s no Michelle Obama but love her or hate her, Beyonce is probably the top pop star in the world right now and certainly deserves to be on Vogue"s cover more than some of the recent cover subjects. Her fashion choices aren"t always my favorites but she has taken a few risks here and there that I can appreciate. I also have no complaints about this photo, she looks beautiful and is working that gorgeous blue gown.
I can"t even comment on Anna having back to back covers with black women. My jaw, she is on the floor.

KATIE HOLMES HAS PLENTY OF REASONS TO CRY
good evening! tom cruise"s stepford wife katie holmes is over in new york city (again) filming scenes for her upcoming new flick the extra man (co-starring paul dano) today she was spotted shooting an emotional scene that required ms. holmes to cry on cue which probably wasn"t all that hard for her - all she needs to do is think about being betrothed to tom cruise (at least xenu let her hold onto her tears) plus that sack hat would make anyone cry! we all told katie to run but girlfriend doesn"t listen (and perhaps is contractually bound) if tomkat seemed genuinely happy i"d be thrilled for them yet whenever i see pictures of two out in public - something seems to be missing - especially if you compare the couple to say brangelina who look completely in love with each other (sorry jen .... it"s true) tom is always dragging katie"s skinny ass around by hand - something is not right with them - their relationship just appears awkward! the only thing they have going for them is their adorable daughter suri cruise who is so damn precious - she"s like my favorite celebrity spawn! after katie"s last bombastic film mad money - let"s hope this one (due out next year) works out better for so she can do more movies and spend less time with tom! popbytes over & out for now .... xoxo

Never Let Casey Carlson Ever Sing Again
At long last, American Idol moved into its semifinals stage, and the results were decidedly mixed. Things started off promisingly at first with one increasingly strong showing after the next, but then the performances went south very, very quickly. Not helping matters was a glitch-laden broadcast that featured so many miscues on the technical end, it sometimes felt we were watching public access. Ryan, who came to us dressed in a saggy, Mr. Rogers sweater, did his best to keep this raggedy production together, but even he seemed caught off guard by such improbable accidents as the Stevie Wright video package playing instead of the one for Brent Keith. Of course, Ryan was left speechless a fair number of times, especially when Ann Marie Boskovich mentioned sitting on "the hard part" of the couch. Silly giggling by Ryan ensued, which was unfortunate because no one else in the studio seemed to be on his wavelength (don"t worry, Ry-Ry. My dirty mind was right with you).
As for the judges, Kara fit in quite nicely on her first live show, often offering pointed criticism and some occasional fiery passion (see Danny Gokey). Paula, meanwhile, continued her coherent streak with several well-stated and articulate comments. Don"t worry though. She still had some loopy moments, such as her muddled proclamation of "Two words. With a hyphen. Sold-out arenas." But hey, at least she didn"t threaten to decapitate anyone and hang their cranium from her rearview mirror. Baby steps....

Diandra Forrest
One new model that is causing a lot of tongues to wag on message boards is Diandra Forrest. Discovered by Shameer Kahn who said of her:
It was a couple of months ago when I first met Diandra. She was walking down 34th street and I took one look at her and was like "Wow.... That girl is beautiful!" She was moving soooo fast and I was not going to let this one slip by! So I finally caught up with her and spoke to her about modeling and she was very interested. We met up a lot of times after that and then I started to take pictures of her as often as we can. There was something specific that I wanted to do with her because I knew she was a special girl and we both worked towards achieving that. I finally presented her to agencies when she was ready to be revealed, and it was such a pleasure for me to finally share this precious diamond that I have been keeping under the radar. I am proud to say that Diandra is now signed to Elite.
There"s a certain "ick" factor to what he says there, at least in my reading. I especially don"t like the part where he speaks of her being "revealed" to agencies like she"s some exotic bird.
Generally speaking, the depiction of albinos in the media hasn"t been very positive. Chances are that if a movie has an albino character, that person is usually the bad guy or something not quite human and witchy.
This is not to say that the woman is not striking. She has truly beautiful features that have nothing to do with her skin color. If she were brown skinned and this beautiful, I wonder if Kahn would have walked right by her without a second glance.
That said, I think she photographs beautifully and I sincerely hope that she"s just not used as this season"s latest runway gimmick next season. I hope that her presence will change, if even just a little bit, the average person"s perception of albinism and beauty. Most of all my hope for her is that she gets to work with designers and photographers that will see her for more than just an "interesting contrast shot" and book her because she"s a lovely model and not just to exploit her looks in the same manner that some very dark skinned black models have been exploited.
Opinions?

Chanel Iman
On difficulties faced by models of color in the industry she vents:
“It’s not just black girls. It’s ethnic girls in general: Brazilian girls, Hispanic. You really don’t see a lot of Asians either. A lot of designers think that if every girl on the runway looks exactly alike, then people will come to the shows and buy the clothes because they won’t be focusing on the models….It’s not even just runway either… us ethnic girls should be getting a lot of the covers too! I would love to be on half of the campaigns these [white] girls are booking, all looking exactly alike. It’s not right. It’s not fair.”
Chanel also talks about her dating life, her relationship with mentor Tyra Banks and all those rumors about her in the upcoming issue of Page Six magazine, which will be inserted into copies of this Sunday"s New York Post.

Interviews With Celebrity Makeup Artist Billy B.
To say that Billy Brasfield, known as "billy b" in the beauty industry, is simply a Makeup Artist would be an understatement. While some things in Billy"s life have been black and white, such as his decision to leave Mississippi for New York, there is much more depth to billy b that goes beyond skin deep.
A world renowned Celebrity Makeup Artist painting faces from the Red Carpet to the small screen, billy b has never forgotten where he came from and is on a mission to revitalize his hometown of Aberdeen, Mississippi. I have been a long time fan of billy b the Makeup Artist, but now I can firmly say that without a doubt I am an absolute fan of billy b the person.
Shannon: Before venturing into the beauty industry, was there another career path you had set for yourself?
billy b: I ventured into the beauty industry by accident. For me, it was a matter of survival. I moved from a tiny Mississippi town (Aberdeen), and only knew NYC was where I wanted to be. I faked my way through the audition process for The American Academy of Dramatic Art, but had never thought of being an actor and had no experience whatsoever. It was a just "way" of getting to NYC, with my parents paying for it. I attended 1 semester and dropped out. My parents were not happy with the move and insisted I return to Mississippi.
After quitting school, I was forced to move out of housing, my parents cut me off financially, so it was sink or swim. I moved into a YMCA in Times Square and only had experience in retail, so I went to Macy"s Herald Square (because it was the only store I knew of from watching the Thanksgiving Parade on T.V. while growing up in Mississippi. They had a job in cosmetics so I lied and said I had experience, got the job and luckily discovered my talent there doing makeup on real women.
Shannon: When you began doing makeup, who were the makeup artists that you admired for their work?
billy b: To be honest, prior to my retail job selling makeup at Macy"s, I had never given any thought to who actually did makeup for magazines etc. I always liked fashion etc., but was so naive from Mississippi, I had never thought about it until I started doing makeup and then of course became aware of Kevyn Aucoin. He was already a working makeup artist then. I knew he was southern, so I was intrigued. He became my makeup hero.
Shannon: Are there any emerging makeup artists now whose talent you marvel at?
billy b: There are so many incredibly talented makeup artists out there known and unknown! I always say in my classes that every Sunday there are thousands of incredibly talented singers in church choirs that can sing circles around Mariah Carey and Celine Dion, but will never have record deals or be famous. It is the same with makeup artists. There are so many talented artists (known and unknown) who are unsung heroes.
Shannon: Which do you enjoy more: creating a story for a photo shoot, creating a story for a video or creating the look of a celebrity for the red carpet? Why?
billy b: The answer to that question depends on so many factors, but I enjoy it all. I think the best thing about our job is that it is something different everyday! The answer for a photo shoot depends on the photographer, the model, the hair, the stylist, the magazine, what type of makeup I am asked to do etc. For a video it depends on the video concept, the director, the director of photography, the singer, the song etc. For the Red Carpet, all of the same factors come into play. Making a magic image isn"t just left up to the makeup artist. As a matter of fact, making magic is a RARE thing and absolutely a "team" effort, but I LOVE the challenge every time.
Shannon: You just launched your own brush collection, billybBeauty Paint Brushes, what inspired you to create your own collection and how are they different from other brush lines on the market?
billy b: I"m glad you asked this question! I have always been very particular about my brushes. I think tools make all the difference in the world. For me, there are several factors, but the MOST important is that the brush help me do what I want to do. The shape, density, texture of the hair etc., but I also wanted to do a brush that is comfortable to use (ie. the length, weight, etc.) All of those factors are important. I designed the brushes for me; brushes that I use everyday to make my job easier. I am making tools that I love and use with the hope that others will love them, but I made them for myself. How they are different for me is that I incorporate some aspect of every great brush I found. Now I love every aspect of every brush I have designed; they are meant to be light and comfortable to use. This collection is ever evolving and what you see is not the final collection. I am in the process of designing a retractable lip brush and I"m sure I"ll be inspired to design more brushes in time.
Shannon: You are a keynote speaker at The Makeup Show run by The Powder Group and now you will be doing The American Beauty Tour with them, as well. Do you find that you enjoy being out in the spotlight teaching pro"s and non-pro"s your techniques more so than being "behind the scenes" for your work, or is it equally rewarding?
billy b: This is a good question! I don"t know how this whole "teaching" and "speaking" thing happened, but I do enjoy giving back. I didn"t have anything like this available to me when I started out and if I had had the opportunity to learn from someone "who had been there" it would have helped me so much. When I speak/teach, I just try to be honest. I just "tell it like it is" and people seem to enjoy it. That makes me feel good, yes. I receive the most incredible letters after speaking. It always amazes me what exactly helps someone. It"s not always about watching me work or learning a tip about makeup. It"s nice to know I might validate, teach or inspire someone. It is a totally different type of satisfaction than creating makeup.

Wyatt Cenac
Most recognizable for his hilarious stint as a fake-news correspondent on Comedy Central"s The Daily Show, Wyatt Cenac also makes his feature debut as the star of Barry Jenkins" "enlightened and tenderly beautiful" Medicine for Melancholy. (Hey, that"s what the critic blurbed on the trailer called it, and I trust his fine taste.) The official synopsis reads as such:
"Medicine for Melancholy is a love story of bikes and one-night stands told through two African-American twenty-somethings dealing with issues of class, identity, and the evolving conundrum of being a minority in rapidly gentrifying San Francisco -- a city with the smallest proportional black population of any other major American city."
Just before a post-screening Q&A at Columbia University on Thursday night, I told Wyatt our chat could be casual, so he put his feet up on the table and threatened to take his pants off. Ever the jokester, we discussed what his film is really about, the big-screen remake of a TV show he believes he should star in, and why we"ll never fully be rid of Bush-era America.
To listen to the podcast, click here.
Medicine for Melancholy opens this Friday at NYC"s IFC Center, with releases soon after in Detroit (Feb. 13), Seattle (Feb. 20), San Francisco (Feb. 27) and Los Angeles (Feb. 27). It will be available On Demand from IFC Festival Direct beginning Feb. 4. For more info, visit the official site.
